Gwinnett Humane Society does not operate a shelter. We are a volunteer-based program focused on adopting animals in our Owner Sponsor program or being cared for in temporary volunteer foster homes. Our Placement volunteers are committed to placing our adoptable dogs and cats in new, loving homes by matching the personality and needs of each animal with prospective new families.

Our Adoption Fees

CATS - $100
DOGS - $125
This fee includes the following for Cats:   This fee includes the following for Dogs:
  • Negative Feline Leukemia/FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) Test (unless otherwise noted)
  • Current vaccinations (up to current age w/exception of Rabies, kittens under 4 months of age require follow-up shots at Adopter's expense)
  • Animal residing in registered GHS foster homes will be altered prior to adoption. Owner sponsored animals will either be spayed/neutered prior to adoption or a Spay/Neuter Certificate will be provided, redeemable at participating veterinary clinic, covering cost or partial cost of Spay/Neuter surgery (dependant upon clinic selected

  • Current vaccinations (up to current age w/exception of Rabies and puppies under 4 months of age require follow-up shots at Adopter's expense)

or visit us at Discover Mills during our weekend adoption days to fill out an application in person (see below for details).

Adoption applications do not obligate you to adopt, but are a required first step prior
to discussing/interviewing for/meeting a potential pet.


All adoptions are approved by Adoption Officers and are an attempt to place each animal in well-suited, loving homes.
Our goal is to match the personality and needs of each animal with the adoptive family best suited to the particular animal.

Where Do We Go?

We do not operate a shelter. Our animals live with their current owners or in temporary, volunteer foster homes until adoption.

Adoption visitations are held each weekend at DISCOVER MILLS in Lawrenceville, GA.
We are located in a storefront inside the mall across from Sun & Ski Sports.

What Do We Do?

If you see an animal you are interested in adopting, the FIRST STEP is to complete an Adoption Application.
Applications may be filled out in person during our weekend adoption visitations or completed online.
An application does not obligate you to adopt, but is required before we can discuss the animal with you.

Please complete the appropriate application and email it to applications@gwinnetthumane.com.
Be sure to include the name of the animal your are interested in in the Subject of your email.

A volunteer will get in touch with you with information regarding our Owner Sponsor Program and requirements.
